Young Adult Imprint [Jul. 12th, 2004|10:52 am]

I've always been entranced by young adult offerings, and if I have the time to spare at a bookstore I'll traipse over the children's department and study the selection, certain to find some fantasy novel that isn't available in the science fiction / fantasy department. It also has the effect of putting me back a decade (wait, almost two decades ago). Of course I quickly outpaced most ya material and went straight for the adult fare a few years ago. I was a Hoover. I still am. I digest books like popcorn. I can't help it, really. I'm used to walking into a store and leaving with a dozen books and reading them all on a weekend. One thousand paged-tomes. Pffffffffffffft.

In any case I'm meandering on this topic and I didn't mean to, but I've always wanted to edit a young adult imprint, along with the rest of my fantasies (like running a soft erotica mm pb line, but that's another story), but the issue is that I can't think of a good name for it. All the good ones have been taken, damn it! I'm usually very good at coming up with names, like Cosmos, Prime, Dominion, Congress, etc. but I'm stuck here. Suggestions, anyone?

That brings something up else. I'm dissatisfied with "House of Dominion" or "Dominion" for the general horror imprint. "House of Dominion" sounds like a hardcore erotica imprint, not a general horror imprint. It feels weird, really really wrong.
