Wildside Press and Mass Market Paperbacks

Dorchester Publishing Co. Inc. and Wildside Press, LLC have signed an agreement to launch a new mass-market paperback line, publishing both science fiction and fantasy under the Cosmos Books imprint. Scheduled to premiere in June of 2007 with two titles a month, the program will showcase works by bestselling classic and award-winning contemporary authors under the editorship of Sean Wallace, Executive Editor, and John Betancourt, President and Publisher of Wildside Press.

"We're extremely pleased to be working with Dorchester," said Betancourt. "This agreement provides us with the opportunity to reach new audiences and allow our company to grow in new directions. Dorchester and Wildside share the same vision for the line. We expect a long and mutually rewarding relationship."

Since its founding in 1989, Wildside Press has become a leading publisher of science fiction and fantasy, with a list of authors that includes multiple award-winner Robert Silverberg, Science Fiction Grandmaster Anne McCaffrey, New York Times best-selling author Alan Dean Foster, and the legendary Robert E. Howard, creator of Conan the Barbarian. Nominated six times for the World Fantasy Award for publishing excellence, Wildside Press publishes books, magazines, and audiobooks in multiple genres, including not only science fiction and fantasy, but mystery, classics, and paranormal romance.

"Niche publishing has been Dorchester Publishing's strength, providing a wide range of romances, westerns and horror novels to the consumer," said Dorchester Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Distribution Tim DeYoung. "Building on this unique approach, Dorchester expanded into thrillers and recently, with the publishing of Hard Case Crime, noir mysteries. The alignment with Wildside Press brings a new level of excitement to our publishing program as we will be able to fill additional genres with high quality science fiction and fantasy."

Dorchester Publishing has been involved in the publishing of mass market books since 1971, making Dorchester the oldest independent mass market publisher in America. From its founding, Dorchester has strived to bring the freshest authors to millions of fans, in a number of categories including romance, horror, westerns, thrillers, and now science fiction and fantasy.
